SignalBridge
Independent provider assessment

Proton is the strongest privacy-first business suite when reducing provider access matters more than copying Google or Microsoft feature for feature.

Mail, calendar, files, documents, VPN, password management and meetings sit under one privacy-led account. Useful consolidation. Also a larger dependency than “just email”.

The judgement

Choose Proton when privacy, custom-domain email and reduced provider visibility are real requirements.

Do not choose it as a moral accessory. A privacy purchase that breaks collaboration or compliance is still a bad technology decision.

What changes

Mailbox storage

Mail stored in Proton uses zero-access encryption. Messages between Proton users are end-to-end encrypted automatically.

External email

Ordinary mail to non-Proton recipients is not end-to-end encrypted by default. Password protection or compatible PGP is required.

Business suite

Plans can combine Mail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, VPN, Pass and Meet. This is an architecture decision, not an inbox skin.

Custom domains

The address remains portable when the organisation retains the registrar, DNS and recovery authority.

Precision matters

ClaimAccurate reading
“Proton cannot read my email”Stored message content uses zero-access encryption. Metadata and subject-line treatment are not identical to body-content end-to-end encryption.
“Everything is end-to-end encrypted”Automatic between Proton users. External email is not E2EE by default.
“Bridge keeps the device encrypted”Bridge protects the connection, but a desktop client may store local mail unencrypted.
