Affiliate Site Compliance Launch Checklist

A practical pre-launch checklist for affiliate disclosure, routing, claims, provider status, schema and buyer due diligence.

Updated 2026-07-04

Affiliate sites do not become trustworthy by hiding the money. They become more defensible when the commercial relationship is visible before the user makes a decision.

1. Publish disclosure before monetization

Create a disclosure page before applying broadly. Put short disclosure text close to the decision point and before outbound clicks.

2. Separate coverage from commercial status

A provider can be covered even if there is no approved affiliate relationship. Do not imply a paid partnership where none exists.

3. Avoid fake review framing

Do not use review stars, review schema or tested-language unless the visible page actually supports those claims.

4. Route by fit

The page should explain who the tool fits, who should avoid it, what to verify and what alternative route exists.

5. Track intent without exposing plumbing

Track outbound intent and clicks, but keep /go/ and /api/ routes out of the index.

FAQ

Can an affiliate site be trusted?

Yes, if commercial incentives are disclosed clearly and do not override fit, risk and usefulness.

Should declined programs be hidden?

No. Treat them as neutral reference providers and reapplication candidates only after proof improves.

What should be in an affiliate application?

Audience, content structure, disclosure model, examples of route pages, media kit, and honest traffic stage.
